I met a woman once who was so friendly, she seemed to define the term. Her greeting was always enthusiastic. (Heloooooooo!) Every time she saw you was an excuse to give a hug. She made eye contact immediately, and held it until you told her everything that was on your mind.
She was a giver, big time. One day I went to her house and learned that she had bought a dog. I was trying to figure out what a person with a tiny house and two cats would do with a dog, when she explained that she got this particular kind of dog because they were good with people. She was going to train her dog to be a helper-dog, one who can go into hospices and hospitals and old folks homes and visit with people, make them feel good. Over a year she spent training this dog to be a helper, and then he got a special permit to do the helping. It was just incredible to see.
She was also a strong person...and sometimes she was so stubborn you just had to walk away. But I loved her just the same.
I'm proud to call her friend.
One day I found out she was sick. She never made a big deal out of it. And now she's gone - she left the world yesterday.
All I can say is Shanti Gail. May you be well happy and peaceful wherever you may be.
